Facebook Apologizes and Modifies Features

In a blog entry today titled An Open Letter from Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg apologized for the privacy issues created by News Feed and Mini Feed. He states,

We really messed this one up. When we launched News Feed and Mini-Feed we were trying to provide you with a stream of information about your social world. Instead, we did a bad job of explaining what the new features were and an even worse job of giving you control of them. I'd like to try to correct those errors now.

It will be interesting now to see how blogs around the Internet cover this apology, and whether the angry Facebook users around the world will actually remove their information from the Feeds. My guess is that most of the angry users will realize they actually prefer the attention they get from releasing all their information to friends, and will choose to leave their News Feed and Mini Feed settings untouched.

Will this apology and the changes made be enough to heal the slightly damaged reputation of Facebook?
