Original Signal Picks Content For You
Michael Zhang · September 21, 2006
Hope has arrived for the lazy people of the internet. Instead of adding your own content to the countless feed readers out there, you can browse the latest content from the most popular websites and blogs on Original Signal.
Orginal Signal aggregates the 15 most popular web 2.0 weblogs. The main purpose of the site is to provide a quick glance on what's happening without using your desktop/web RSS reader. New headlines (since your last cookied visit) come in pretty pink, visited ones are grey. All credits go to the authors of these weblogs. Without their hard work Original Signal would not exist. Original Signal was inspired by Popurls and the Web 2.0 Workgroup.
The site, like Popurls, is very cleanly designed and easy to use. There is more content due to additional pages and "signals", such as Tech, Gadgets, Digg, Jobs, and Buzz. By looking at the Jobs signal page, you're presented with the latest jobs from the most popular job boards.
I can't see how this service is going to make money, but what they currently offer is quite useful and should prove to be very popular. The company's old site DiggView was closed and relaunched as an Original Signal page.

just a cheap popurls ripp-off...
It may be a ripoff (as they themselves that they were "inspired" by popurls"), but it's definitely not cheap. It's like an upgraded version of Popurls with extra sections.
