Now that the general social networking market is dominated by enormous companies, smaller services are emerging to meet the needs of niche audiences. Gaambol, OneClickTennis, and Golfbuzz are examples of this.

All three are young websites offering specific services that meet the needs of their audience. Gaambol, the "first online gambling social network", offers a way for poker players and gamblers to meet, play, and share. OneClickTennis is "a unique service devoted to providing you with the ability to play exciting matches, track your progress, and share your experience in a comfortable environment". Golfbuzz is "golf's first social network that allows its users to get and stay connected".

Although these sites have no chance of surpassing the likes of Myspace or Facebook in membership or traffic, they still offer feature sets unique to their specific audiences. Since it's highly improbable that the large social networks will provide methods doing such things as finding gambling partners or keeping track of tennis matches, these smaller niche social networks stand a good chance of building solid businesses protected from their larger competitors. A couple years from now, the internet might be filled with social networking services like these.
