Zecco aims to build a "revolutionary financial community". The company describes Zecco as a place...

Where you will have access to data, news, ideas, opinions and tools. Were you can gain insight into the dynamics of today’s financial markets. Where you can contribute your thoughts and your ideas.

They are also planning on giving users the ability to trades in stocks, options, bonds, and mutual funds. Currently the service is in public Beta, and is "a basic framework with only limited functionality."

There's already countless websites and services, big and small, that offer financial tools, advice, and trading. Zecco will need to really stand out to have any sort of audience.

According to GigaOM, Zecco will offering free trading with no commissions. They also report that the company has raised money from significant backers including Morten Lund, one of the early investors in Skype.

Why isn't the company proudly declaring this key element to their service all over their front page? When they mention the ability to trade, the key word "free" is strangely missing. Perhaps they wanted bloggers to propogate this, or maybe they wanted to prevent other online stock brokers from rethinking their strategy too quickly...
