Screenshot Thumbnails with WebSnapr
WebSnapr is an interesting new service that provides thumbnails of almost any webpage. This lets you do all sorts of interesting things, including having an popup preview bubble of any link on your website.
Here is an example thumbnail generated by the service:

The logo and website are obnoxiously Web 2.0 and unoriginal, but the service works well.
I would be much more inclined to use WebSnapr if it became an open source project that could run off my own server. For the time behind, however, I'll stand at a distance and watch approvingly.

There are other products like this like thumbshots and others. The more the merrier!
I agree about the logo though, yikes!
The logo is generated from the web2.0 logo generator, lol
Very cool, I know of a similar service and it works well - this may slow down or not be any good after digg users abuse and bruise it.

Very very cool! Keep up the good work!

WebShotsPro is another service similar to this. We have been running for a few months now, and have indexed a majority of digg.com's links. Our Diggthumbs plugin puts a screenshot next to each entry on digg.com.

Since Aug our screenshot servers have processed over 300,000 screenshots. There are now 6 servers dedicated to keeping http://www.webshotspro.com up and running.
Glad to see that screenshot services are starting to become popular!

You can download the sources from websnapr at www.thumboo.com
:-)
I'm finding both Webshots Pro and Websnapr to be really slow at present. Unfortunate, I enjoyed using them so much! Any info on if speed's going to be getting better (looks like the queues are saturated) in the near future? :)
