VentureBeat Launches VentureBoard

VentureBeat, a blog about private companies and venture capital, has launched VentureBoard, a "marketplace for the technology start-up community of Silicon Valley and other regions."

VentureBeat founder Matt Marshall states that the board does two things:

  1. It is a place where individuals or emerging tech companies can advertise their products, assets or teams for sale and where established companies can find them.
  2. It is a place for service providers, such as financial, debt, accounting, legal and PR companies, to advertise their services, and for emerging companies to locate services they need.

So, instead of providing a plain job board like all the big technology weblogs are doing, VentureBeat has paved the way for an easy method of flipping a startup company to a buyer. Listings cost $149, and a few startups have already put themselves up for sale.

I can't imagine the common web user browsing around on VentureBoard for the next startup to purchase, nor can I envision company leaders keeping their eye on VentureBoard, waiting for the next promising startup to put themselves up for sale. However, with a few startups having already successfully sold themselves via eBay (Kiko for one), VentureBoard has a shot of being the epicenter of future hoopla.
