What were some challenges you've faced while starting and developing Wikipedia?

It has been very successful, and so there have been fewer challenges than one might imagine. :)

What are some things about Wikipedia that you did not expect when you first started building it?

When I first started, I was skeptical that we could remain open for very long, but committed myself to trying. And here we are all these years later, more open than ever!

What are your responsibilities on a day to day basis?

Mostly I sit and type... :) I work with the community a lot, trying to settle various disputes, and I spend a lot of time talking to the press of course. It is hard for me to say how I break things down per company or organization because so many things have to do with both.
