Video sharing site, Flixya was founded in July 2006 by Adam Oliver (CEO) and Ivan Wong (shown at left, COO).

They are not just your "run of the mill" video sharing site but also provide a 100% ad revenue sharing program where you can enjoy sharing your videos and make money all at the same time. In addition, they also engage users with a social participation type appeal where the top voted videos can appear on their homepage. See their blog here to find out more.

Being in such a highly competitive space and the lack of brand loyalty characteristic of Web 2.0 startups, how is Flixya going about differentiating itself from the competition and drawing more traffic?

Flixya is taking a reverse approach to the current model of building social networking. We are creating a tool for members to consume media as well as earn revenue from a typical model that does not reward member behavior or interaction. Flixya has been growing through word of mouth from a dedicated and loyal member base.

We noticed on your "about us" page, Florian Cervenka will be joining your team. How many people will be behind Flixya and what are their roles?

Florian is our CTO and has been integral in the development of Flixya V2. We're a small start up and currently, Flixya has less than 10 employees. We each wear multiple hats and currently we are self funded out of pocket.

We will be updating the site and announcing a few key partnerships as well as the addition of our Advisory Board members.

What are the improvements users can expect with the launch of Flixya V2?

A quick snapshot of new features:

-- Users receive 100% ad revenue from content they submit.
-- Integrated and seamless content distribution beyond the Flixya domain.
-- Media distribution tools for posting to popular social bookmarking and social networking sites.
-- Popular videos may be voted on and promoted to the front page of the Flixya site using an up/down voting system.
-- Personal profile allows for sharing personal interests, friends, videos, photos and blog posts.
-- Media enabled blogging software that allows for customization of HTML and the ability to add video, photo and Google search results.
-- Unlimited image hosting for inserting images into Craigslist, Ebay or online classified listings

With all the attention, Facebook is getting recently since the release of their API, does Flixya have any intentions to develop a Flixya app for Facebook? What are Flixya's plans for growth in the next 5 years?

We feel the true value of social networking is the community, rather than the technology. However, we continue to fine tune our features to enhance our community member's experience. The Facebook API is something we think is a great example of offering fresh ideas to leverage the success of social media and extend the functionality.

We have additional projects that we will be releasing over the next few months. Our 5 year plan is to grow our network and visibility. Most importantly, we are committed to enabling the Flixya community members an effective distribution and monetization platform for digital content that is entertaining and engaging and rewards members for their contributions.
