Loading Icons for Use With Ajax

It is increasingly common for web services to incorporate ajax for the purpose of making things more dynamic and interactive. A problem with ajax is that sometimes it provides no visible feedback to users to indicate any progress or changes. One solution to this problem is to use animated GIF images that indicate work being done.

Although the GIF itself is completely unrelated to any actual ajax processes, displaying the animated image will give your users comfort in knowing that things are being done.

Instead of creating your own animated GIF, there is a set of "generic" images that most websites are incorporating into their designs. Ajaxload is a simple service developers can use to generate these "generic" loading images with custom colors and backgrounds. They also provide an option to have a transparent background you can use with transparent overlays.
