Importing Facebook Phonebook Into Gmail Contacts
I was looking for an easy way to get all the phone numbers from my Facebook contacts into my G1 today, since I lost all my numbers when my previous phone died this summer.
Finally found a great solution that worked like a charm. Brad Fitzpatrick, founder of LiveJournal, wrote both a tool to merge contacts into your Google contacts, and a GreaseMonkey script to extract the contacts from your Facebook phonebook.
You can find it here: AddressBooker & exporting my Facebook Phonebook.
Here’s what you do:
- First, make sure you’re using Firefox with GreaseMonkey installed.
- Go to your Facebook phone book. Log into Facebook, click Friends at the top, then click Phonebook on the left.
- Then in the Firefox menu, go to Tools->GreaseMonkey->User Script Commands->Export Facebook Phonebook
- Log into AddressBooker with your Google account, and follow the instructions.
After a few steps and a few minutes, I now have 97 phone numbers from my Facebook friend in my Google contacts, which is updated to my G1 phone.
