Thank you so much for straightening this out! You helped me save half a TB of backups that I almost lost by playing around with partitions too much :/

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was just about to reach the exasperation stage, after my second NTFS re-formatting on a PC kept appearing as "FAT32" in Disk Utility and unmountable to the system. TestDisk found some problems in the partition structure and fixed it in a snap. You saved me.

That solved my problem ! Thank you very much.
I had a LaCie 1Tb disk that could not be read on Macs but fine on Windows and Linux machines. TestDisk detected that the partition was with incorrect CHS numbers (probably some LBA mode on the original computer) and fixed it in no time.

In fact, one of the big problems with Macs are the Mac users haunting the forums. When you ask about your NTFS partition that does not work, they can only reply "format it as FAT32, it's just as good". When you ask to do something that is not the usual Mac way, they answer "you don't need that." It's exasperating sometimes.

Thanks again for the trick.

True, though it doesn't change the fact that you don't even know whether DiskWarrior will work before purchasing it. A better method would be to have some sort of diagnosis download that checks to see whether DiskWarrior will do any good, and then ask you to download the full version.

Don't blame Apple for your stupidity.. Buying DiskWarrior at $99 when you clearly could have read the info on the app. stating that it only supports Mac formatted drives..
